More Than a Badge

Terry Wingard dedicated his career to public service, serving as a dispatcher and law enforcement officer and working in roles that included SWAT, K-9, investigations, and leadership. But Terry was much more than a badge. He was a son, brother, husband, friend, and beloved uncle remembered for his humor, loyalty, and love for the people around him.

After Terry died by suicide on August 2, 2024, his family created Terry Wingard’s Shield to support first responders and their families and bring greater awareness to mental health and suicide within first-responder professions.
